New Etsy Shop and Content

If you like my work and are interested in buying any of them, or simply checking out new pieces I have created, here is my etsy shop that I just got up and running. I appreciate your support, and am working on setting a schedule to more frequently update this blog. I have about 30 new paintings I have done since my move to Seattle, WA and am excited to share them with you.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/SensoryIntegrity

For now, here is a couple examples of some of my new work.

This first piece was created with acrylic inks, both colored and iridescent, which are embedded in a layer of pouring medium. This adds depth and dimension to the piece, and the interference/iridescent inks add complexity as the colors change in different lights. It reminds me of stained slides in a microscope and looks like something from an internal anatomy structure, without being directly referential of any particular structure.  This piece is done on 10in by 10in canvas with painted sides, ready to be put on display.

This piece was created solely with the use of acrylic paints, which has become rare for me, since I love so many media and can hardly contain myself to just one. It was done during my phase of planet/galaxy interest, and  has an alien sky feel to it. It was done on 9in by 12in paper and comes sealed in an art protector.

Persephone Unbound

I have not posted in awhile, being busy with a move across the country and having to abandon 99% of my collection. I am happy to have started fresh and am finally painting on canvas again. This piece was named by someone very important to me, and I am quite proud of how it turned out.

Art show set up

Here are some example pictures of how my table looked this weekend while set up. I need a better way to display my pendants and need to iron my tablecloth for the next show, but I am really happy with how my display has evolved over time. I used the command hooks that don't damage walls to safely hang my paintings. They look much more impressive and professional when hung on the wall, and with this hooks I can do this with any shows that have wall space.

Framed Abstract 16 x 20 canvases

I had an art show this weekend and I had my new frames painted and mounted to the 16 x 20 canvas size that I usually work with. These are the three that I had, though I hope to eventually have all of those canvases framed. They look more professional and seem more finished.

Abstract ink painting on 11*14 paper

A friend of mine came over today so we could paint and create together. She had some very inspiring ideas, and while she created, I worked on this new paper painting. I started with a thick layer of acrylic paint, which I then removed some of and distressed with a spray bottle and paper towels. I then started splattering different media across the paper. I started with iridescent ink, then added some alcohol ink, acrylic ink and even fluid acrylic paint for some dimension. I let some of the colors mix and intermingle, while others I dried first before adding another layer. Towards the end I started tilting the paper so some of the drips and splatters could run. I then sprayed a spray bottle containing water thinned acrylics to finish off the whole painting. I am excited about this picture because the only editing I had to do to it was to crop it, there was no messing with the saturation needed. This photograph is the exact colors of the actual painting. I am happy to finally have a way to share my work, exactly as it appears in real life.

Abstract gessoed

This piece started off as a very insanely colored painting I did awhile back. I needed to tone it down, so I put a thick layer of gesso over it and then used a palette knife to carve a pattern into it. I then put a ton of alcohol and alcohol inks over top of the still wet gesso layer. I added and removed layers of the inks until I had the desired effect.

This is my anatomical eyeball/body part painting, I just edited this one is photoshop as well. I really love all the options that are available to me in photoshop!

Here is another finished abstract acrylic painting I did and edited in photoshop. These are the options I came up with, I do enjoy their differences and am thinking of printing some of these too. Any preferences?

Here is another painting I altered hue-wise in photoshop. I am a fan of really intense visual stimulation, so bright colors are very enjoyable for me to look at. I was thinking of making prints of some of my work, and photoshop would be a great way to make different color pictures of my work. I love the many options that I can do to a finished painting. Just when I think I am running out of new things to do, a whole new art door opens. Stay tuned for more photoshop visuals.....

Abstract tentacle monster painting

This was one of the largest paintings I did, as I normally work with 16 by 20 or 16 by 24. I don't remember the size, but I had trouble fitting it on my table. It is a bush monster, that was painted with acrylic paints, brushes and palette knives. It is a monster that sold at an art show.

Abstract

This painting was done with palette knives and acrylic paints and was varnished for a glossy sheen. It was sold at an art show.

Abstract brown painting

This painting was done with acrylic paints and palette knives. I also used some paints directly out of the tube, with no brushes or knives. The texture was added with paint thickener.

Abstract painting

This painting was bought by another manager of an old job I worked at. It was an abstract tornado-esk painting done with acrylic paints and self-leveling gel.

Abstract blue painting

This painting was also made for my friend, Katie. It is done with matte gel to get the texture, and the painted over with acrylic paints.

Abstract purple painting

This painting was made for my friend, katie, and is currently hanging up in her apartment. It was done with acrylic paints

Watercolor abstract portrait

This picture was painted with my pan watercolors, like all the portraits, I actually prefer these to the tubes, because it is easier to get a richer, darker color.

Elephant abstract painting

This painting was inspired and given to my friend Lily, who I work with in the summer. She loves elephants, and so do I. This was done using the weird effects of gesso, self-leveling gel and acrylic paint.

Bush monster

This painting was done with self leveling gel, computer ink and block printing ink. It was sold to a fellow artist at an art show.

Painting for a friend

This is my version of a friendship bracelet, I painted a similar one that is hanging in my friend's apartment, so we can think of each other when we see them. This was done with bubble wrap, acrylic paint, computer ink and glaze

Live painting

This is the painting I did for the When I knew and How it Saved Me. You can find the link to the article in the post below this. I was asked to paint live and be inspired by the show, and my piece was auctioned off at the end.
