Dripping madness

This piece effectively summarizes my passion for texture, and the texture is what caused the ink to drip in such an interesting way. This piece was colored with black acrylic in only, in different diluted strengths.

Persephone Unbound

I have not posted in awhile, being busy with a move across the country and having to abandon 99% of my collection. I am happy to have started fresh and am finally painting on canvas again. This piece was named by someone very important to me, and I am quite proud of how it turned out.

Abstract acrylic

I had a bit of a break for the holidays, spending some time with my family. I got a ton of new supplies for Christmas, so now I am going painting crazy. I have at least four new projects going at a time now. This is my newest acrylic abstract painting. The bottom layer is done with warm colors, reds, oranges and yellows. The next layer is a dark teal color, followed by a layer of a gesso glaze.

Abstract acrylic

Here is an abstract acrylic painting I did with my new paint and palette knives. It was done on canvas board.

Wave painting part 2

Here are some pictures of the finished wave inspired painting, after the clear coat layer. Glossy finishes are tricky to photograph correctly, so the first shows the sheen, but the color is off. The other two show a close up, to show the colors better.

Textured abstract painting

This red and black painting highlights the texture used in it. Here are two views of the painting, to get an idea of how it looks in different lights. I might another layer of red, but here it is so far.

Wave painting, part 1

This is the start of a wave acrylic painting I just started with palette knives. After this I'm adding a thick clear, pouring medium layer, which will make it look like it is under water.

Abstract

This painting was done with palette knives and acrylic paints and was varnished for a glossy sheen. It was sold at an art show.

Abstract brown painting

This painting was done with acrylic paints and palette knives. I also used some paints directly out of the tube, with no brushes or knives. The texture was added with paint thickener.

Abstract painting

This a piece that is currently on display in my parent's house. It was done with acrylic paint and palette knives. It is a very bright colored piece, with tons of texture done with thickening medium in the lower left hand corner.

Abstract acrylic painting

This one was also done with palette knives, it took awhile for me to learn to not over stroke, and stop when a piece is going good. I can't count the number that were fine until I kept painting, but it makes good practice.

Abstract acrylic painting

This is a piece I did for halloween, turned into a 3 dimensional looking snake like painting. Palette knives are a really cool tool to use, they give such a great impression of texture.
