Abstract pouring medium boards

I tried out my new iridescent inks in pouring mediums, on my smaller canvas boards. No matter how many of these I create, I am still amazing and inspired each time watching the inks swirl and pull.

Poured painting high gloss

This painting was poured with mixtures of pouring medium and acrylic inks. It used much less material than the acrylic poured painting I did a couple weeks ago. I love the high gloss finish that this piece has, it works well to give it that completed look.

Large galaxy painting

I took a bunch of pictures of this painting to try and capture the iridescence. I used similar techniques to the last galaxy painting, with a lot more of each medium. It turned into a swirling black hole in the center of the painting.

In a galaxy far far away

This galaxy painting was incredible to create. I just got some amazing new supplies from the best art website, www.dickblick.com. I ordered different inks, including an intense black one, and two shimmering colors that work like interference paint. I used these inks with a regular white dropped in a pouring medium, over an acrylic and ink background. I then used interference mica powder set into the pouring medium to add an incredible luminescence. I am obsessed with how this turned out, and about to make more right now. I have had a black, unfinished sky painting for over a year, and I finally know how to finish it.

Abstract pouring medium

This painting was done in an abstract style using three mediums and a multitude of tools. Acrylic inks, rubbing alcohol and pouring medium used with spray bottles, droppers, paper towels and more created the pattern.

Abstract pink

This canvas was painted with liquid acrylic inks for an underglaze of sorts. The top layer was done by dipping the canvas in a mixture of pouring medium and the same acrylic inks.

Syringe painting

This abstract painting was done with acrylic paint, pouring medium and syringes. The under layer was painted with bubble wrap and netting, the syringes are filled with different amounts of blood colored paint. It took a whole bunch of days to dry, and still needs a couple days to finish. It is on canvas, and can be hung, without a frame.

Poured painting

Another painting done with pouring medium. These are the most difficult paintings to take a picture of. The glare throws the color off, especially because a flash cannot be used.

I can barely finish one of these paintings before I am ready to start the next. I remember playing skin factor as a kid, letting glue dry on my hands then peeling it off. Well, it is not nearly as fun now, as I am constantly trying to pick this stuff off my hands, and it does not want to come off. I think I am going to permanently have colored fingers.

This is a painting done with poured medium, I have been experimenting with ways to keep it from pouring off the sides of the canvas. If you slightly wet the canvas first, it spreads the medium a bit thinner, so it doesn't end up wasting a bunch later.

This was also done with pouring medium and ink. I am having trouble keeping the pouring medium from overflowing off the canvas

Abstract poured painting

This painting was created with pouring medium and ink, and the colors are vivid and beautiful. I think I prefer using the ink with pouring medium, as it is more fluid and seems to float on the surface. Now that I have a gallon of pouring medium, I am going to be using it more often. That and spending more time peeling it off my skin, it is a mess to clean up.

Wave painting part 2

Here are some pictures of the finished wave inspired painting, after the clear coat layer. Glossy finishes are tricky to photograph correctly, so the first shows the sheen, but the color is off. The other two show a close up, to show the colors better.

Pouring medium painting

My first painting done completely with marbled pouring medium. It is a really fun medium to use, leaves a very glossy finish, and shows color brilliantly.

This is a pour I just did last night with my new pouring medium. I made some smaller ones too, and a, going to try to figure out which painting to use them in today.
