Abstract Planet Digital Art

I just finished creating this digital art piece in Photoshop. I stumbled across a few Photoshop tutorials online, since I am so new to the software. This was one of them, showing how to create a space scape. I used a painting that I had created with acrylic paint on paper, and changed the saturation. I then added a lens flare, shadow and glow to the planet to create the look. I am excited to create more pieces like this with Photoshop. I am always excited to learn to create in a new medium, and the more I learn, the more I realize that there is still so much I have yet to try. It is so exciting to have a passion that is practically endless with possibilities. It is overwhelming at times, trying to decide what to create next. I am just thankful to have so many supplies and time to do what I love most, create art.

Alien planet

I painted this abstract painting a couple years, and sold it at one of my first art shows. I was at the owner's house tonight, and got an opportunity to take a better picture of it than the ones I had. I did this painting with a couple layers of acrylic paint, dipping different circles in paint, and using paper towels as a stamp as well. The spikey shaped object was done with oil paint. The whole thing was sealed with varnish after it was dry.

I added some more washes of the primary blue and alizarin crimson, taking out the light and white parts. I am not quite sure if I am going to add the white back in, but for now, I like it how it is. I love how the colors mix and interact together, and bring out the texture.

New string art

This new piece was done in the same grunge style with string. The paints I used were acrylics, many of them watered down to a very thin consistency. The colors are unbleached titanium, raw umber, a bit of titanium white and mars black, and hooker's green. I really like the final result of this piece, and was less challenging than the last one, now that I have gotten used to the steps.

String abstract

I just created what I believe is one of my favorite pieces to date, next to the wraith in a city painting, and the abstract needles one. This painting was done on a framed piece of wood that was given to me by a friend. It saved me the trouble of having to frame it myself. I was online, looking at string wall installations, and artists using sting in their art, when I thought I would give it a try myself. This is my first try using string in a painting, and I think it turned out pretty successful.

Unfinished two part piece

This is the first time I have painted a piece that extends onto more than one canvas, and so far, I am pleased with the results. I am actually not sure how to finish this piece, however. I had and idea to add some darker colored tissue paper running in a curved line across the two boards, or to color some heavily textured medium, like glass bead gel, or resin sand. I am asking for anyone who has an opinion on how to finish this, any of my ideas or your own. What would you like to see?

Poured painting

Another painting done with pouring medium. These are the most difficult paintings to take a picture of. The glare throws the color off, especially because a flash cannot be used.

I can barely finish one of these paintings before I am ready to start the next. I remember playing skin factor as a kid, letting glue dry on my hands then peeling it off. Well, it is not nearly as fun now, as I am constantly trying to pick this stuff off my hands, and it does not want to come off. I think I am going to permanently have colored fingers.

This is a painting done with poured medium, I have been experimenting with ways to keep it from pouring off the sides of the canvas. If you slightly wet the canvas first, it spreads the medium a bit thinner, so it doesn't end up wasting a bunch later.

Distorted painting part 2

This figure is coming along, and getting a little stranger looking as time goes on. Taking a break from this particular piece for a little while, I am going to look at it with fresh eyes in the morning.

This is the start of a distorted figure painting I am doing. It still needs a ton of work, but I have the general shape down and part of the background. I will keep posting new pics as it is coming along
