I wanted to test out my new stardust clear glitter gel pens, so I made this design with colored pencils, and used the pen to color over the circles. I love how they embellish without covering too much, only slightly altering the color. The pens color very smoothly as well, and take me back to my younger days when I had tons of mini gel pens. I used to love that set of pens so much, I'd take it with me even when I couldn't use it, just to look at all the fun colors.
I am trying to paint often on my mixed media papers, so I can have enough to make a portfolio soon. I was digging though a box today and found some art supplies, including multiple sets of watercolor pans. I colored this piece with one of those sets I found. I added the lines with acrylic paint, by stamping painted corrugated cardboard. I then embellished and added new lines with colored pencils. There is some texture achieved with a couple rectangles of paper that were glued down in the beginning and partially blended in with the watercolors.
I decided to shade and color the sketch I did earlier. I used water to activate the sketch and wash pencil, and colored the piece with colored pencils. I has a nice organic feel, with that touch of creepy I have come to love so much.
This is a colored pencil drawing I did at my art show today to keep myself entertained. I am giving it to a friend artist who loves crows.
